Create and Edit Event Layouts from Dashboard to 3D Editor

Create Layouts: From Dashboard to 3D Editor

Planning an event often involves managing spatial challenges, layout logistics, and visual presentation—all while ensuring accuracy and speed. SPALBA’s SAAS-based design platform streamlines this process through an intelligent, interactive, and visual-first system. In this guide, we’ll walk through the complete venue design journey using one of India’s premium properties, The Oberoi, New Delhi.

Info
Here’s how to use it:

Notes
Step 1: Accessing the Dashboard and Selecting a Property

Upon logging into your SPALBA account, you land on the Dashboard. From the left-hand menu, navigate to Subscribed Properties, where all venues under your account are listed.

For this walkthrough, we select The Oberoi, New Delhi. This listing shows its subscription end date (18-Jun-2025) and expands to reveal all venues within the property, such as:

  • Ballroom I (Satpura)

  • Nilgiri

  • Aravalli

  • Courtyard

Each venue entry clearly displays:

  • Venue Name

  • Venue Type (e.g., Ballroom/Banquet)

  • Maximum Capacity

  • Icons to access Auto-Layout Wizard and Saved Layouts

Notes
Step 2: Launching the Auto-Layout Wizard

Click on the Auto-Layout Wizard icon for the Courtyard venue.

The system takes you to a guided layout configuration tool where the process begins by displaying the exact venue dimensions. In this case, the Courtyard is sized at 45.2 ft (Width) x 42 ft (Height).

Click Continue, and the layout wizard progresses through a series of decisions to tailor the layout generation:

  1. Choose the Layout Generation Method
Decide whether to use full automation, manual adjustments, or a hybrid approach.

  2. Stage Requirements
Specify whether a stage is needed. If yes, enter the stage dimensions.

  3. Seating Spacing Preferences
Choose how tightly or loosely the seats should be arranged.

  4. Seat Configuration Type
Select from seating formats such as Theater, Cabaret, Cluster, or Classroom.

These steps ensure that the system generates layouts that are both functional and aligned with the client’s vision.

Notes
Step 3: Reviewing and Selecting Auto-Generated Layouts

Once you complete the setup, the platform instantly produces multiple layout options tailored to your inputs.

Here’s what you can see:

  • A visual grid representation of each layout

  • Details like Layout Name

  • Seating Type (e.g., Theater)

  • Pax or capacity (e.g., 114 people)

  • Options to modify, save, or regenerate layouts

This step is a significant advantage of SPALBA’s system—you get visually clear, ready-to-review layouts within seconds. No manual sketches, no guesswork.

You can:

  • Click “Modify Layout” to make manual adjustments

  • Save the layout to your personal list via the “Save to My Layouts” button

  • Go back and change your preferences to generate new versions

Notes
Step 4: Converting the 2D Layout to 3D

After saving the desired layout (e.g., The Oberoi, New Delhi – Courtyard – Theater), go to the My Layouts section on the top-right menu.

This page shows two sections:

  • 2D Layouts

  • 3D Layouts

Under 2D Layouts, find the layout you just created. Click the three-dot Action Menu and select “Convert to 3D Layout.” After a brief loading screen, the new layout appears in the 3D Layouts section.

This transition allows you to move from a schematic floor plan to a fully immersive 3D environment—ideal for stakeholder reviews, client walkthroughs, or vendor planning.

Notes
Step 5: Opening and Editing the Layout in 3D Editor

Click on the three dots under your new 3D layout and choose “Open in 3D Editor.”

What follows is a complete 3D visualization of your event space, populated with all the elements you configured earlier.

In this instance, we see:

  • Banquet chairs (white) placed in Theater formation

  • Realistic background and surroundings of the Courtyard at The Oberoi, New Delhi

  • Trees, flooring, and boundary walls that replicate the venue’s actual look and feel

You can interact with the environment by:

  • Zooming, rotating, and navigating the space

  • Adding or adjusting seating, stages, decor, tables, and more from the left-hand toolbar

  • Accessing individual objects and modifying their properties through the Object Panel on the right

Once you’re satisfied, you can click Save, or Save & Go Back, which preserves your layout in both 3D and 2D formats for future use, presentation, or editing.
